He was born and grew up in India until he left for the United States to study for a masters and PhD at Stanford University. Today, India is a major market for edX. Indian students make up 250,000 of the 2 million worldwide who have registered for edX courses.
But Professor Agarwal had to come to the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra to find the first edX MOOC to be delivered in his native language.
