5th Global Survey on Internationalization

On Friday 17 November 2017, the IAU Secretary General, Hilligje Van’t Land and the Rector of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), Jean-Paul de Gaudemar, signed a Memorandum of Understanding detailing the contribution of AUF to the development of the IAU 5th Global Survey on Internationalization of Higher Education. AUF will help disseminate the questionnaire in the Francophone world and will translate the final report into French. The IAU is very pleased with this cooperation as it will allow to increase the visibility of this important survey, which will help understand the importance and significance of internationalization of higher education world round. IAU Global Meeting of Associations & International Conference took place in Ghana in October

IAU 2017 International Conference and Global Meeting of Associations (GMA) ended after a week of fruitful discussions on challenges relating to funding of higher education. 170 people coming from 45 countries took part in these events hosted by the University of Ghana in Accra.
The GMA offered the opportunity to 70 representatives from Associations of Universities to share their specific challenges through group discussions.

New IAU Publication: Higher Education Paving the Way to Sustainable Development

With this publication, the International Association of Universities wants to underline the key role higher education plays in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By sharing knowledge and promoting international cooperation, the IAU aims at supporting and inspiring higher education leaders to develop HESD strategies. The findings of this publication are based on an IAU survey conducted in 2016, in which 120 higher education institutions worlwide took part. The results underline that universites are involved in sustainable development and integrate it in their strategic development plans. However, there is still room for progress. ECMI widens teaching cooperation networks

SAVE the DATE for the ECMI Public Lecture: Policies toward Roma in Europe

http://www.infoecmi.eu/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/ecmiheader-20yrs.jpgThe lecture will provide a broad introduction to Roma in Europe as an object of policy, with an emphasis on Eastern Europe, where roughly three quarters of Roma in Europe reside. Beginning with a brief look at Roma’s probable origins, the first part of the lecture treats issues related to terminology and relates these to difficulties encountered in measuring Romani populations. The second part of the lecture consists in a rough sketch of policies targeting Roma before 1990, focusing on the assimilationist policies enacted by East European Communist regimes. The third and final part of the lecture examines major international initiatives targeting Roma in post-Communist Europe. More...

«Communautés de recherche-action au service des enseignants de langues» (ARC) : conférence annuelle du CARN

La plupart des participants à la conférence était des représentants de l'enseignement supérieur de toute l'Europe et au-delà, mais également des professeurs d'écoles locales et des étudiants d'universités grecques. Plus...

«Promouvoir l’excellence dans l’instruction en langue des signes» (PRO-Sign2) : dernières nouvelles du projet – novembre 2017

http://www.ecml.at/Portals/1/images/logos/logo-ECML-COE-2014-Color.pngL'accent a été mis sur l'évaluation de la langue des signes atypique (par exemple chez les patients souffrant de problèmes psychiatriques) et sur l'évaluation de la langue des signes chez les utilisateurs de L1 et L2. Les questions suivantes ont été abordées au cours d’un atelier : l’identification des groupes cibles et l’adaptation des tests de langue des signes à leurs besoins, l’élaboration des tâches, le contenu des tests, les post-tests (que faire avec les résultats des tests ?), et la création de liens entre théorie et pratique et la fourniture d’un accès aux ressources.
