Open Science: Expert and High-Level Groups meet at EUA
The High-Level Group was created upon the recommendation of the Expert Group and was endorsed by the EUA Council in January 2016. This group aims to bring together high-level leaders engaged in negotiating “big deals” with publishers on behalf of universities, and to support their institutions in these processes. In this first meeting, the High-Level Group focused its discussions on EUA’s work in mapping the European Open Access landscape and explored the main elements relevant for universities involved in “big deal” negotiations. European Innovation Council: EUA’s response to call for ideas
In order to answer the call, launched in February 2016, EUA held a consultation with its university members and its Research Policy Working Group. After analysing the results, EUA stresses in its response that the main mission of a European Innovation Council (EIC) should be the enhancement of Europe’s competitiveness and the creation of jobs for the benefit of society. EUA also stresses that an EIC should take into account the strong relation between investment in research-based innovation, investment in the development of highly-skilled workers and the resulting economic and social innovation. Third edition of U-Multirank launched
As the representative organisation of European universities, EUA takes part in the project advisory board providing a university perspective to the U-Multirank consortium. When looking at the participation of EUA members in the U-Multirank 2016, EUA notes that the level of participation by EUA member institutions seems to have stabilised with about 60% included in the ranking both in 2015 and 2016. Most of them participated by publicly providing data to the consortium, but many only through publicly available bibliometric data. More...

University leaders discuss digitalisation at EUA Annual Conference
