La mobilité internationale est en pleine expansion en Chine. Depuis de nombreuses années, la Chine a mis en place une politique très ouverte sur l'international et a fait le choix d'envoyer massivement ses étudiants à l'étranger pour la poursuite de leurs études. Cette politique est en train de s'inverser et aujourd'hui c'est aussi l'accueil d'étudiants étrangers qui intéresse la Chine. Or, si la Chine accueille des étudiants en provenance du Sud-Est asiatique, des Etats-Unis, ou du Japon, elle accueille encore très peu d'étudiants en provenance d'Europe de l'Ouest. Le projet Tempus AqiUmed est souvent présenté par les ministères chargés des enseignements supérieurs et la Commission européenne, comme un exemple réussi de coopération dans le domaine de la garantie de la qualité dans l'enseignement supérieur.
Le projet AqiUmed « Renforcement de l'assurance qualité interne dans des universités de la Méditerranée Algérie-Maroc-Tunisie » s'est déroulé sur trois ans, de janvier 2010 à janvier 2013 et regroupait dix institutions maghrébines, les ministères de l'enseignement supérieur d'Algérie, du Maroc et de Tunisie, huit partenaires européens et deux experts individuels.
Les dix institutions maghrébines partenaires étaient trois institutions algériennes : l'École Normale Supérieure d'Enseignement Technologique (ENSET) d'Oran, l'Université M'Hamed Bougara de Boumerdès (UMBB), l'Université Mentouri de Constantine (UMC) ; trois institutions marocaines : l'Université Abdelmalek Essaâdi Tétouan-Tanger, l'Université Mohammed Premier (UMP) d'Oujda, l'Université Ibn Tofail (UIT) de Kénitra ; quatre institutions tunisiennes : l'Université de Tunis, l'Université de Carthage, l'Université de Sousse, l'Université de Sfax. On October 22 – 23, Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe organized the fourth informal regional conference of Ministers of Education on the Implementation of the European Higher Education Area. The conference was a part of the programme of Azerbaijan’s Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (May – November 2014) and was opened by the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan, Dr Mikayl Chingiz oğlu Jabbarov, and gathered the Deputy Ministers of Education of Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Georgia, the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan as well as ministry representatives from Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine. The European Students Union and the European Training Foundation were also represented and the Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Malena Mård, spoke at the opening session.
The conference focused on the implementation of the goals and policies of the European Higher Education Area in the participating countries, in particular qualifications frameworks, quality assurance and transparency/ethics in education.

The revised version of the “Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area”, commonly known as ESG  has been endorsed by the Bologna Follow-Up Group (BFUG) in September 2014.
Now it is subjected to approval by the Ministerial Conference in May 2015, Yerevan (Armenia).
This revised version was proposed by the E4 Group (ENQA, ESU, EUA and EURASHE) in cooperation with EI, BUSINESSEUROPE and EQAR, following the mandate given in the Bucharest Communiqué by the ministers. The revision included several consultation rounds involving both the key stakeholder organisations and ministries. The many comments, proposals and recommendations received have been very useful and of extremely importance for the revision process. They are reflected in the resulting revised version.
As requested by Ministers, the revised version make the ESG clearer, particularly in terms of their structure and in order to avoid potential confusion with their interpretation. The revised ESG also make a more explicit link to the learning and teaching process in the section on internal QA, and defines the relationship of QA with other Bologna Process developments that have taken place since 2005 (including those relating to Qualifications Frameworks and learning outcomes).

Next steps
The revised version will be discussed and proposed for adopting at the next EHEA Ministerial Meeting that will take place in Yerevan Armenia, May 2015.

Co-financed by the European Commission within the framework of the SAVES project, the Student Switch Off Campaign is launching in 5 European countries in September and October 2014.
Student Switch Off is an action aiming at promoting energy saving behavior among the students living in dormitories, first set up by the National Union of Students of United Kingdom (NUS UK). Participating dormitories are put in a competition to save the most energy by simple everyday actions, like putting a lid on a saucepan, switching off light when not used, avoiding boiling more water than needed or putting on a jumper instead of heating. Last academic year the campaign contributed to cutting 3.000 tonnes of carbon and saved the education sector £400.000. More...

The US News & World Report (USNWR) has released its inaugural Best Arab Region Universities Rankings. These are entirely research based and use bibliometric data from the Scopus database, which is part of the Elsevier Research intelligence portfolio.
