The federal government’s long-awaited data on the students enrolled in distance education courses nationwide provide a dubious baseline, a new study suggests, as confusing instructions, inflexible design and a lack of coordination have led colleges and universities to under- or overreport thousands of students. The University of Chicago has suspended negotiations to renew its agreement to host a Confucius Institute after objecting to an unflattering article that appeared in the Chinese press. The decision follows a petition, signed by more than 100 faculty members this spring, calling for the closure of the institute. The petition raised concerns that in hosting the Chinese government-funded center for research and language teaching, Chicago was ceding control over faculty hiring, course content, and programming to Confucius Institute headquarters in Beijing, which is also known as Hanban. Read more...

Le GIP FIPAN, l’Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis, l’AFPA, l’Union pour les Entreprises 06, la Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie, le Conseil Général 06, des OPCA, Pôle emploi et le CARIF Espace Compétences se sont associés afin de promouvoir le dispositif VAE comme véritable outil de gestion des ressources humaines dans les entreprises.

Un théâtre forum intitulé « Voyage au bout de la VAE » a été proposé en juin dernier à Nice et à Sophia Antipolis afin de donner la parole aux entrepreneurs et à l’ensemble des acteurs du dispositif et de proposer collectivement des solutions alternatives aux problèmes concrets qui se posent. Trois autres représentations sont également programmées dans le Var.

« Notre souhait a été de contrer les idées reçues sur la VAE collective en s’adressant de manière originale et ludique aux entreprises, tout en favorisant les échanges et les témoignages du public dans un climat de convivialité » déclare Jean-Michel Arnoux, responsable du DAVA de l’Académie de Nice.

Monté par la Compagnie Entr’act, ce spectacle de théâtre interactif est constitué de saynètes écrites à partir de l’analyse d’un questionnaire recueilli auprès de 150 entreprises.

« Le système français de formation professionnelle des adultes souffre de dysfonctionnements dénoncés depuis des années par nombre de rapports académiques, administratifs ou parlementaires. Les défauts de ce système peuvent se résumer ainsi :

1) une initiative limitée des individus dans le choix de leur formation ;

2) de fortes inégalités d’accès à la formation entre qualifiés et moins qualifiés ;

3) la rigidité d’un système très administré, dans lequel les organismes paritaires jouent un rôle prépondérant dans l’orientation des dépenses de formation ;

4) la faible efficacité des dépenses de formation, en termes de retour à l’emploi, de salaire ou de gains de productivité.

Ces défauts nuisent aussi bien à la sécurisation des parcours professionnels qu’à la compétitivité des entreprises. Après trois réformes de la formation professionnelle menées au cours des dix dernières années2, et muni de ces constats, le gouvernement a lancé en 2013 une nouvelle réforme qui a abouti à l’accord national interprofessionnel (ANI) du 14 décembre 2013, transposé en grande partie dans la loi du 5 mars 2014… »
