Supporting students: universities not that bad really

I must admit to being extremely irritated by a recent report in The Telegraph of a speech by Richard Harman, Head of Uppingham School, in which he warns that “both independent and state school pupils are under “more pressure than ever before”, with worries about jobs, housing and increased debt contributing to this anxiety.”

Plus d’un million et demi d’étudiants inscrits à l’université

Par Figaro Etudiant. L’université attire toujours plus d’étudiants. Pour l’année universitaire 2013-2014, ce sont 1 505600 étudiants qui sont inscrits dans les universités françaises, y compris les DOM, la Polynésie française et la Nouvelle-Calédonie (IUT inclus), nous apprend la dernière note d’information de la Direction de l’évaluation, de la prospective et de la performance (DEPP). Soit près de 100.000 de plus que pour l’exercice précédent et une hausse moyenne de 2,5%. Les effectifs augmentent particulièrement en Licence (2,5%) et en Master (3%). En revanche, on remarque une baisse pour les doctorats (-1,2%). Suite...
