For my final Advocate editorial*, I could have written on the need to change the industrial laws in favour of workers and our unions; to organise more effectively to increase job security; to counter the persistence of sexism and inequality for women; to again make the case for free tertiary tuition and adequate public funding; to plea for members to get involved in university governance and demand democracy and accountability; and I certainly could have written on academic freedom and our rights and responsibilities to challenge the status quo through our teaching, research and engagement.
