Higher education has been facing a demanding and complex financial context. The growth in student numbers, rethinking the role of the state and public services, financial austerity, that has been aggravated by a challenging economic reality since 2007, have contributed to declining institutional budgets from public sources and the rise in efforts towards income diversification.
