At the Council meeting, which took place in Brussels on 28 October 2016, University of Leicester Rector Paul Boyle presented details on the political context following the UK’s June 2016 vote to leave the EU. He also provided a recap of the British university sector’s recent advocacy work, underling the success of the government guarantee that ongoing Horizon 2020 projects will continue to be funded after the UK leaves the Union, and that EU students signing up to study in the UK in 2017-2018 will have access to loans and grants throughout the course of their entire study period, even if it extends past Brexit.
