Working Overtime on Campus
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) obligates most employers, including colleges and universities, to pay each of their employees overtime at time and one-half of the employee’s regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 40 hours in a workweek, unless the employee’s salary exceeds the current minimum threshold of $455 a week ($23,660 a year) and the employee falls within an FLSA category that exempts the employee from being required to receive overtime pay.
