International Students Returning to Australia

The number of students from overseas, especially from India, in 2009 fell dramatically as a result of the rising value of the Australian currency, stricter visa regulations affecting vocational training and a number of attacks on Indian students that were alleged to be racially motivated. The contribution of international students fell from 17 billion Australian dollars in 2009 to 14.5 billion in 2012.
