Université Pierre-Mendès-France

Pierre-Mendès-France University / Grenoble 2 (UPMF) is a University in Social Sciences and Humanities, multidisciplinary, composed of 6 faculties or UFR (Research and Training Units), a training-school and 5 Institutes.
In 2006, the 19,000 students, among which 3,000 foreign students, are provided teaching and research programs in a wide range of subjects and sciences such as:
- Economy, Law, Politics, Management and Business strategy, History, Art History, Philosophy, Urbanism, Psychology, Sociology, Teaching sciences (Education), Musicology, Mathematics applied to social sciences
As for Research, UPMF combines a fundamental consideration / reflection to a capacity of applied research and expertise on the political and economics’ changes and on the social and cultural evolutions. This combination permits to put the university knowledge and theory into a scientific, technological or industrial context, either local or regional, especially because of the growing activity of these sectors in the Rhône-Alpes Region. The university’s contribution to this growth is noteworthy.
