ERA Stakeholders criticize the funding of the European Fund for Strategic Investments

LERU and its partner organisations in the ERA Platform (CESAER, EARTO, EUA, Science Europe) today, publicly and jointly, oppose the proposals of the European Commission to divert 2,7 billion euro from the Horizon 2020 budget to the European Fund for Strategic Investments.

For LERU, in particular the cuts in the budget lines for the European Research Council (ERC; 221 million euro) and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA; 100 million euro) are unjustifiable: we have fought hard to secure the ERC’s position in the overall EU budget for 2014-2020 and will not allow its budget being plundered now.
