Uni reform needs hard choices, not surprises
By Andrew Trounson. THE electorate is prepared to make hard decisions on reforming higher education but it doesn’t like surprises, Charles Sturt University vice-chancellor Andy Vann says, calling on Labor to debate and present policies well ahead of the next election.
The Abbott government’s radical reform of the sector, in which it wants to deregulate fees and open subsidies to private colleges and sub-degree programs, is due to be presented again to the Senate soon. More...
