A report released today by the Foundation for Young Australians called Renewing Australia’s Promise shows that for the first time young Australians are unlikely to be better off than their parents. While the report shows that eeducational attainment has risen significantly over the last 30 years, with young people 1.6 times more likely to finish school and 1.4 times more likely to gain tertiary qualifications, it also shows that almost a third of all young people are unemployed or underemployed, and for those who have gone to university they have average debts of $24,000.
