Top-notch impact studies on development ‘on the rise’
Policymakers, particularly in developing countries, are increasingly using high-quality impact studies to assess the effectiveness of development programmes, says the head of an organisation that funds such studies.
As well as quantity, the quality of this research has greatly improved, with scientific principles being applied to isolate an intervention’s effect from other possible influences, says Howard White, executive director of the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie). More...
