By Jeannie Rea. Amongst the avalanche of government funding cuts, student fee rises, deregulation and privatisation in the Abbott Government’s first Federal Budget there was one reform arising from a recommendation of the Kemp-Norton Review of the Demand Driven Model that the NTEU does not oppose.
The NTEU supports the extension of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) to sub degrees in higher education courses – in public institutions.
Such courses are best delivered in public universities and TAFE institutions, which have the expertise and infrastructure to provide students with a quality and well supported education.
The NTEU does not support the extension of CSPs to private providers of degrees or sub-degree higher education courses. More...
