Promoting Digital Literacy for Seniors the aptitude of Tablet-PCS

Author(s): Sonia HetznerAmrei Tenckhoff-Eckhardt and Anna Slyschak. Throughout Europe studies reveal that eInclusion is still a very important topic for the older generations. The discrepancy in Internet usage numbers between younger and older generations slightly decreased in the past years, but it stills a topic of concern since the socio-economic potentials of Internet usage for the older generations are not being explored.
Internet usage can contribute to a higher quality of life; social interaction on the Internet reduces loneliness and depression. eSkills and eCompetences development amongst third agers is still challenging. Socio-economics, technical and emotional obstacles hinder the process. In this paper the key results of a comparison pilot study is presented.
