Student life: why study in America?

Undergraduate, Shanna Engelhardt, decided that studying liberal arts at university in America would give her the freedom to explore a variety of subjects.  I have a French mother, an American father and I have lived in Wales for the entirety of my life. Until now that is. August 2013 was a month of serious transition for me as I travelled across the Atlantic, 3000 miles away from what I knew as home.
I was heading to Duke University in sunny North Carolina, where I hoped to find my next adventures.
Since being in the US I have often received questions like, “why Duke?”, “why travel so far from home?”, “what made you choose Liberal Arts?” “Wales is in England, right?”. More...
