Poli Sci? Really?

By Matt Reed. About once a week, the New York Times runs a piece that’s deliberately, rather than incidentally, about creeping philistinism. This week’s entry, The Decline and Fall of the English Major, is a mostly unremarkable example of the genre. But it included a statistic that made me sit upright: In 1991, 165 students graduated from Yale with a B.A. in English literature. By 2012, that number was 62.
