Reclaim Open Learning

This past weekend I had the real privilege of going to MIT’s Media Lab to join a group of diverse international thinkers for a hackathon around the idea of learning on the open web thanks to Philipp Schmidt—I can’t believe he still has faith in me, does anyone any more? The theme that emerged is reclaim, as in reclaim the web, reclaim your data, reclaim open learning, etc. This is a topic very much in line with (and at least for me inspired by) Boone Gorges and D’Arcy Norman‘s Reclaim Project. The theme of “reclaiming” the digital bits of one’s online self is an interesting one, and I like how it conceptually dovetails with the work UMW is doing with Domain of One’s Own. Read more...
