Recognition of Prior Learning for the Construction Industry APL-Bud is a two year Transfer of Innovation project, funded under the European Lifelong Learning Programme, finishing October 2010.
The project has developed and tested methods and instruments to recognise construction workers competences and to validate prior learning, which may be the results of formal learning (in learning institutions), non-formal or informal learning at the workplace.
The assessment (validation) of prior learning has been developed initially for bricklayers, roofers and plumbers. The experience from the pilots will be useful for other construction occupations as well as other sectors beyond.
Recognition/validation of prior learning is closely linked to the recognition of qualifications and is of interest for: VET-policy at European and national levels; impact on the European labour market; labour, education and training in the construction industry.
