Top 100 universities for employability revealed. The University of Cambridge has replaced the University of Oxford at the top of a global ranking that measures how universities perform on graduate employability.
The Global Employability University Survey 2014 has 13 UK institutions making the top 150 of the list, with University College London and Imperial College London joining the Oxbridge institutions in the top 15. The list is dominated, however, by US institutions, which claim six of the top 10 spots.
The results, compiled by French human resources consulting group Emerging Associates along with Trendence, a German polling and research institute, are based on surveys of 2,500 international recruiters in 20 countries. More...

Le Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2014-2015 vient de publier son classement des 100 premières universités pour « Arts & Humanities, 2014-2015 ». Il n'était que temps. S'en est-il fini du French Bashing ? Euh, pas vraiment. En fait, avec les Arts & Humanities, domaines où le monde entier envierait la France, on touche au fond. Nommons-le, le French Burying. Soit les cent premiers établissements mondiaux dans les Arts & Humanities. Il s'y trouve logiquement 35 universités américaines et 20 britanniques. Analyser les politiques d’innovation des 1000 entreprises mondiales qui investissent le plus en Recherche & Développement, telle est la mission du Global Innovation 1000. Cette étude, mise en place par le cabinet de Conseil Strategy&, membre du réseau PwC (ex-Booz & Company). Pour comprendre comment les efforts d’innovation ont changé dans les entreprises au cours des 10 dernières années et ce qu’il faut attendre de la prochaine décennie, Strategy& a interrogé 505 dirigeants R&D dans 467 entreprises dans le monde. Une édition 2014 marquée notamment par un chiffre record : les dépenses R&D des entreprises ont atteint 647 milliards de dollars.
La situation française
5 entreprises figurent dans le top 60 de ce classement : Sanofi (16è), Airbus (33è), Alcatel-Lucent (44è), Peugeot (54è) et Renault (60è). En 2014, les dépenses R&D des entreprises françaises (27,30 milliards d’euros au total) sont restées stables comparées à l’année 2013. Voir l'article...

The US News & World Report (USNWR) has released its inaugural Best Arab Region Universities Rankings. These are entirely research based and use bibliometric data from the Scopus database, which is part of the Elsevier Research intelligence portfolio.
The indicators are publications, cited publications, percent of publications cited, citations, field-weighted citation impact, number of highly cited publications in top 10 percent, percentage of total publications in top 10 per cent, number of highly cited publications in top 25 percent and percentage of total publications in top 25 per cent

I recently returned from the Middle East, where I visited Beirut, Lebanon, and Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, to attend higher education meetings. There I met with experts and discussed our previously announced rankings of colleges and universities in the Middle East and North Africa, a project that started with the release of the Arab Region University Directory last year.

By Urmi A Goswami. Indian institutions could improve their scores dramatically in Times Higher Education's globally cited World University Rankings as the British magazine has agreed to develop and include India-specific parameters for assessment from the next time.
