One Course Without Pay

Full-time, non-tenure-track faculty members at Arizona State University say five per semester, and they’re protesting their department’s plan to increase their teaching load to that number (up from four) each term, starting next fall. They say they’re worried the service work they’ll give up in exchange for the extra course won’t be taken up by tenure-line faculty, and that they won’t be able to give needy students the same level of attention. Tuition Only Pays For Part Of Students’ Educations, Community Colleges Tell Governor

Many students going to community college next year will have their tuition covered by Tennessee Promise, but that only pays for a portion of what their education actually costs. As higher education officials are reminding the governor, schools rely largely on state funding to pay the difference.
While presenting a budget proposal Friday, Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor John Morgan said tuition covers a little more half of the total price tag of community college. The school still has to dish out about $3,000 per student. More...
