Student loans double over the last two decades

By Quentin Fottrell. American students borrow twice as much as they did two decades ago and the total student debt mountain has increased fourfold over that period. And women appear to be taking on more debt than their male counterparts.

To Cut Student Debt, Florida College Cuts Off Some Student Borrowing

Rockland Community College carries almost $3.4 million in past-due tuition from its students. More...

Student debt does not equal mental illness

By Josh Dehaas. Financial stress isn’t a mental illness, it’s a fact of life—and it masks the bigger issue at play. At the Nova Scotia branch of the Canadian Federation of Students, they want a review of mental health services on campuses and point to a common problem. “At Dalhousie University, for example,” says CFS-NS chairperson Anna Dubinski, “it’s quite easy to get a preliminary meeting with a counsellor, but it takes weeks or sometimes months before you get regular counselling.
