Still a role for national university rankings

A consequence is the tendency to overlook national league tables such as the pioneering US News and World Report in the United States and, in the United Kingdom, those published by newspapers such as the Guardian and The Times-Sunday Times, and by TheCompleteUniversityGuide, which opens the UK league table season with its publication on 12 May. Ulm hat eine der besten jungen Hochschulen der Welt

Singapore takes third spot in global education rankings

Singapore’s education system has won another accolade – this time in a cognitive skills and educational attainment index comparing 39 countries and one region, Hong Kong. The school system here has been ranked third after South Korea and Japan, and one place above Hong Kong in the index, according to The Learning Curve report published by education firm Pearson. Asian countries dominate global education ranking

South East Asian countries clinched the top four spots in an education index produced by UK-based education and publishing company Pearsons. South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong beat 39 countries in the Global Index of Cognitive and Educational Attainment compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit which measures learning ability as well as literacy and graduation rates. UK ‘second best education in Europe’

The UK is in second place among European countries and sixth overall in a global education league table.
South Korea is highest rated, with a cluster of Asian countries taking the top four places, in rankings from education and publishing firm, Pearson.

Suite à l’invitation conjointe de Madame Filliatrau, Directrice de l’Observatoire des Sciences et Techniques et de Madame Béjean, Présidente du Comité de pilotage CERES, le Conseil d’Administration de Resosup a missionné son président pour étudier avec ces deux institutions les modalités de participation de l’association au comité de pilotage et aux différents groupes de travail associés au projet.

South Korea has best education system in world

LogoSouth Korea has been named as the best place in the world for education.
The rankings from education and publishing firm, Pearson, include higher education as well as international school tests.
The UK made it to the second place among European countries and sixth overall in a global education league table.

Global science ranking results surprise

By Josh Dehaas. Universities from some provinces outperform in Leiden Ranking. A new global ranking that shows the degree of impact scientists at 750 universities had on the most important journals from 2009 to 2013 includes 28 Canadian schools.
While our top three entries won’t surprise many, the success of one province will.
The CWTS Leiden Ranking offers multiple measures of scientific research quality and output but most important is the PP(top 10%), which considers the proportion of publications from a university that made it into the top 10 per cent of the most frequently cited journals (think Nature and Science). The top 100 list is dominated by U.S. and U.K. universities with multiple entries from Switzerland, Netherlands and France, and one each from Canada, Israel, Ireland, Germany, Denmark and Singapore.
