Aucune. Plus...

Sidekiq
By Stephen Downes - Stephen's Web. Sidekiq
The first real improvement to search since Google. And it's accomplished not by aggregating more capacity to the centre, but rather by depending, intelligently, on distributed capacity. Nice. Hate the spelling of the name, though. More...

42 Reasons Normal People Can Switch to Macs
By Stephen Downes - Stephen's Web. 42 Reasons Normal People Can Switch to Macs
A couple of weeks ago I got my first Mac, a very beautiful new MacBook Pro, courtesy my employer (it was my first hardware expense in almost three years, so I don't feel badly). I planned to use it mostly for video production, but it is a lot nicer to use than my old Windows laptop I'll probably bring it traveling with me. Also, the 320 gig hard drive I bought while in Ottawa just plugs and plays. Funny, though - I managed to crash it on my very first session, playing ultra-low notes in GarageBand. It hasn't crashed since, though, and I've been having fun with it. Next up: Final Cut Studio. More...
Annotated Bibliography of Social Network Analysis for Business
By Stephen Downes - Stephen's Web. Annotated Bibliography of Social Network Analysis for Business
More stuff than you can read in an afternoon. The list of books (all links to Amazon) is pretty authoritative (in my view, at least, as I've read a bunch of them). The list of papers seems a bit light, but as they're unfamiliar to me, may or may not be authoritative (I guess we have to trust the author here). The list of websites is weak, very weak. Don't bother with the comments; they're all spam. See also this living bibliography (aka wiki) on 'leadership networks'. More...
Students Should Use Google Calendar
By Stephen Downes - Stephen's Web. Students Should Use Google Calendar
I don't really use calendars. Mostly, I just remember things, though I will on occasion resort to a list if it gets busy (while a student I relied on a crumpled sheet of paper with assignment due-dates on it, and these days my email folders for conferences carry the conference date as the folder name). So my experiment with the Google calendar, a tenuous foray at best, ended when Google messed up the login IDs by combining Blogger and Google and offering no way to migrate data from one account to another. But the experience was otherwise positive and there was a lot to like about Google Calendar. More...
