National Research Council lays out a four-year reform plan

National Research Council lays out a four-year reform plan
Brian Owens, University Affairs, 2018/01/11
This post covers recent developments at the National Research Council (NRC), where I work. It's generally accurate and reflective of the changes happening at the Council. Yes, there is an effort to re-engage with universities, as well as to begin hiring post-doctoral fellows. The former 'portfolios' are becoming research centres. Iremam’s Blog, on Hypotheses.org

Iremam’s Blog aims to give a day to day glimpse into scientific research activities on the ground in the Arab and Muslim world. A glimpse into the everyday, long-term activities of IREMAM’s members, between the long-term deadlines of academic publications, workshops or research papers. This includes research projects in preparation, field research missions, work on the sources, readings and meetings, and responding to the public (press, charity associations, etc.). Part of this too are the young researchers-in-training, the activities of scientific publication, documentation and communication. By giving access to a day in the life of a research laboratory, IREMAM hopes to contribute to the circulation of information in the scientific community, and beyond that, to speak to a public curious about the research process and its interactions with the world around it.
