Broadband: cheapest ways for students to get connected

Plusnet is still the favourite with a rolling term-time only contract for landline and broadband. If you are renting a private house or flat, chances are you are going to need internet access. Most phone companies impose a minimum contract of a year or 18 months, and you'll mostly have to take a landline to get broadband.
Plusnet has long been the students' friend in that it will allow you take out a rolling contract you can stop when the summer term ends – for nine months. Plusnet Unlimited broadband with weekend calls costs £12.49 a month plus £14.50 a month for the landline. Student part-time work increases

The survey, conducted by insurance provider Endsleigh alongside the National Union of Students, found that 57 per cent of students are earning extra cash while at university, a 7 percentage point rise since last year. 
According to the study, which questioned 1,704 university students, part-time work is being increasingly relied on to cover living costs. More than half (55 per cent) of students are spending their additional income on accommodation, food and household bills. More...

Student life: an alternative gap year with Year Here

Year Here, a gap year programme launched in March 2013, culminated this week, as university graduates competed for a £5,000 grant to launch a social enterprise. Forget full moon parties in Thailand, for many graduates today the typical gap year route isn’t enough. Gap years, especially post-university, increasingly need to provide the opportunity to improve long term career prospects.

Location étudiant : le budget, majeure difficulté pour un étudiant sur deux

Voilà le résultat préoccupant d’un  sondage mené par le site PAP (de Particulier à Particulier) auprès de 3 861 visiteurs. Une situation alarmante qui incite de plus en plus d’étudiants à trouver des alternatives.
"Au cours de vos recherches de logement, quelles difficultés avez-vous déjà rencontrées ?", telle est l’une des questions que l’on peut voir figurer sur le site PAP (de Particulier à Particulier), dans un questionnaire sur "Le logement étudiant". Et à cette question, la majorité des étudiants s’accordent pour pointer du doigt le problème du budget. Ils sont en effet 54 %, soit un étudiant sur deux, à rencontrer des difficultés pour trouver un logement correspondant à son budget. Et ce, malgré une majorité qui se dit prête à dépenser entre 300 et 500 euros de loyer pour la rentrée 2013. Suite...

Logement étudiant : création d’une caution locative étudiante

A long terme, 20 000 étudiants pourraient bénéficier de cette nouvelle mesure.
