Finland: VET still popular despite slight decrease in applicants

All applicants for secondary education (ISCED 3) in Finland use a joint application system. In the spring of 2017, 54% of candidates applied to vocational education and training (VET) programmes and 46% to general programmes in upper secondary education. Cedefop presents cooperation on qualifications frameworks at TVET conference

Cedefop took part in a large-scale international conference on ‘skills on the move: global trends, local resonances’, organised by UNESCO, the People’s Republic of China and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research on 4-6 July in Tangshan, China.
The conference was designed to take stock of progress and challenges since the third international congress on technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Shanghai in 2012 and identify promising policies and practices to enhance TVET’s contribution to sustainable development. More...

VET researchers meet practitioners

A first formal encounter between vocational education and training (VET) researchers and practitioners, organised jointly by UNESCO/UNEVOC and Cedefop, took place at the United Nations campus in Bonn on 18 July.
The activity brought together over 60 participants from EU Member States and social partners, Iran, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, South Africa, Costa Rica and Nigeria to share their diverse contexts on issues of common concern. More...
