Belgium: Brussels opens Europe’s biggest counselling and guidance centre 'Cité des métiers'

Brussels’ first counselling and guidance centre Cité des métiers was opened on 23 April 2018, in the presence of the European Employment Commissioner, Marianne Thyssen, and several ministers from the Brussels Region. Based on a multi-partner and bilingual initiative, this one-stop shop for life-long guidance and counselling is designed to improve access to all types of life-long learning, including vocational education and training (VET). Norway: More opportunities for unskilled workers to obtain craft certificates

‘Craft certificate at work’ is to become a permanent arrangement, ensuring that more unskilled workers obtain a craft certificate. While the country needs more skilled and certified workers ([1]), many already in employment without a certificate seek education. Austria: digitisation promoted in new apprenticeship occupations

In the summer of 2018, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs (BMDW) is introducing seven new apprenticeship programmes, covering a wide range of fields from construction engineering assistant (Bautechnische Assistenz) and glass process engineering to E-commerce merchant (E-Commerce-Kaufmann/-frau). The Netherlands: aligning VET qualifications with regional needs

In a move to strengthen the relationship between schools and the labour market, Dutch senior secondary VET schools can apply to join the Making room for the region initiative, which aims to develop qualifications in cooperation with region-based enterprises.
