Rapport d'information sur la validation de l'apprentissage non formel et informel

Accueil - Vie PubliqueLa recommandation du Conseil européen du 20 décembre 2012 relative à la validation de l'apprentissage non formel et informel prévoit que, pour offrir aux citoyens la possibilité de faire valoir ce qu'ils ont appris en dehors de l'éducation et de la formation formelles et de tirer parti de cet apprentissage notamment dans leur vie professionnelle, les Etats membres devraient, en tenant compte du principe de subsidiarité, mettre en place en 2018 au plus tard, des modalités de validation de la formation non formelle et informelle. Le présent rapport se penche sur le bilan à mi-parcours de la mise en oeuvre de cette recommandation européenne, sur les outils qu'elle implique et les avancées déjà réalisées mais également sur les défis liés à cette évolution. The Form of Informal

I have a couple of recent items. In The Form of Informal, I argue that critics of informal l;earning equivocate between two senses of the word 'form', and that 'informal' does not mean 'without structure'. Also, in Virtues Education I look at the argument offered by Paul Tough in a recent New York Times article. The methods described by Tough may appear to work, I write, but they are not scalable, and even if they were, the sort of cultural subversion he describes creates far more harm than he imagines. Informal Learning - Let's Get Real

I have a lot of stuff today, stuff I've been saving as well as some items I hunted down. Tomorrow I am presenting online at e/merge 2006 - Learning Landscapes in Southern Africa, and I have decided to offer my thoughts on how we can know E-Learning 2.0 will work, indeed, is working. The links today almost all apply to that question and will show up in my talk tomorrow.
Tony Karrer writes, "I'm becoming convinced that folks in the informal learning realm are quite willing to live with 'free range' learning. It's way too touchy-feely and abstract for me. If this stuff is important, then I want to:

  • Know that it will work
  • Know why it works
  • Know that it's repeatable."

He is reacting to George Siemens, who writes, "We have a rough end target (solve this problem, innovate, adapt, etc.)...and we really don't have a clear process (other than teams, meetings, and emerging collaborative spaces)." I don't think Siemens is right, really, but explaining why - and meeting Karrer's challenge - takes a bit of doing. More...

Informal Learning Practices

Jeremy Hiebert has been looking into informal learning. The first paper, published in 2000, is an extensive survey of adultg learning in Canada and shows that Canadians are extensively involved in it (15 hours a week), want explicit recognition of this work, and are generally underemployed with respect to their informal credentials. He also links to Self-Direction in Adult Learning, a book on the subject from 1991. More...
