En 2013, la dépense moyenne par étudiant en France est proche de la moyenne des pays de l'OCDE. Elle se stabilise ces dernières années après une forte hausse observée entre 2005 et 2008. Cependant, l'effort national consacré à l'enseignement supérieur reste légèrement en dessous de la moyenne des pays de l'OCDE (1,5 % du PIB contre 1,6 %). Voir l'article...

01 la dépense d’éducation pour l’enseignement supérieur
En 2015, la collectivité nationale (État, collectivités territoriales, autres administrations publiques, ménages et entreprises) a consacré 30,1 milliards d'euros (Md€) à l'enseignement supérieur, soit une hausse de 0,2 % par rapport à 2014 (en prix constants). Depuis 1980, la dépense pour l'enseignement supérieur a connu une forte croissance, de 2,7 % en moyenne annuelle. Son poids dans la dépense intérieure d'éducation (DIE) est passé de 15,1 % en 1980 à 20,3 % en 2015

At the start of the 2014-2015 academic year, there were 20,549 students in public higher education, i.e. 1.17% of the student population, who declared a disability and were provided with support of some kind. 91.5% of them were enrolled at university, where their numbers have tripled since 2005. They receive more and more different types of support which are now better known and which mean that students are not excluded from the general trend of longer studies. Around 9 out of 10 students who graduated with Master's degrees, vocational Bachelor's degrees (LP) and University technology diplomas (DUT) in 2012 were in employment in December 2014, some 30 months after leaving university. After 18 months, the integration process was already well advanced. Over 85% of LMD Master's graduates were in employment. However, the employment conditions differ according to the subject studied. In France, young people are more likely to have higher education qualifications than older people, and also more likely than young people living in other OECD countries. In the early 2010s, 44% of young people leaving initial education were awarded higher education qualifications.
Several indicators can be used to measure the proportion of young people who have been awarded a higher education qualification, compare it to the total population, compare with other countries and analyse recent developments

At university, 28% of students obtain their Bachelor's degree 3 years after enrolling in the first year and 40% after 3 or 4 years. These rates have changed little in recent years. Nearly three-quarters of Bachelor's degree graduates enrol on a Master's the following year. Pass rates for Master's degrees have significantly increased since 2007; around 54% of students now obtain their degree in two years and 65% in two or three years. More...

17 trajectories and pass rates in higher technical sections (STS), University technology institutes (IUT) and classes preparing for admission to Grandes Ecoles (CPGE)
At the beginning of the sixth year after obtaining their Baccalaureat, 74% of students who enrolled in higher technical sections (STS) in 2008 and 92% of those who enrolled in university institutes of technology (IUT) had obtained a higher education degree. A quarter of students from the STS study track and around two-thirds from IUTs even had a Bac +3 or Bac +5 level qualification. Three-quarters of Baccalaureat holders enrolled in classes preparing for admission to Grandes Écoles were still studying, half of them in the final year of a Bac +5 level qualification. More...
