New Indian Rankings on the Way
Indian universities have never done very well in any of the major university rankings. The Times of India reports the widespread belief that this is because “the ranking being skewed to technical and humanities universities and international parameters not being applicable to the Indian system.” Now, there is a move to create a new ranking designed specifically for Indian universities. An announcement was issued following a recent meeting of the Council of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

QS Young Universities Rankings: Asia in the Lead
A week after the publication of its World University Rankings, QS has revealed its list of the top universities founded within the last fifty years. Although there are representatives from a broad range of countries, these rankings are dominated by Asia. Universities concentrating on science and technology do particularly well.
The top five are:

- Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
- Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology
- Pohang Institute of Science and Technology (POSTECH) , South Korea
