In preparation for the International Conference on Higher Education for Sustainable Development, Nagoya 9 November 2014, and the UNESCO World Conference on ESD, Nagoya, Japan, 10-12 November 2014, IAU prepared a special issue of IAU Horizons on The role of higher education in the post 2015 Development Agenda. On September 19, 2014 during the 26 th Annual Conference of the Magna Charta Observatory at Uppsala University, Sweden, the IAU Secretary General chaired a Workshop on Ethics in Education and Research, featuring the IAU-MCO Guidelines for an Institutional Code of Ethics for Higher Education (http://www.iau-aiu.net/content/complete-list).
The MCO conference theme: University Integrity Society’s Benefit brought together university leaders, students and faculty members and was held, for the first time outside of Bologna University and did not include the traditional ceremony of signing the Magna Charta Universitatum, which will from now on take place only every other year in Bologna. The Council of Magna Charta Observatory has appointed David Lock as the Observatory’s Secretary General.
The Observatory website notes that “Mr Lock is presently  Director of International  Projects at the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education. He will retire from this position in April and until then he will combine both responsibilities”.

Le Conseil régional d'Ile-de-France a adopté le 25 septembre une charte commune du service public francilien de l'orientation.

From 18 to 19 September 2014, the Magna Charta Observatory will hold its Annual Conference in Uppsala, Sweden, to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the Magna Charta Universitatum. The theme of this year’s conference is “University Integrity – Society’s Benefit”.
The target audience for the conference, taking place at Uppsala University, includes university leaders and representatives, higher education professionals and students, policy makers and higher education stakeholders from all sectors.

Ils avaient signé deux chartes d’engagement en mai 2009 et juin 2011 pour le développement de la formation dans un contexte de crise ou de mutations économiques. L’État, la Région et les partenaires sociaux poursuivent et signent la troisième.
10 000 salariés, issus de 483 entreprises, depuis 2009, ont pu garder leur emploi dans un contexte difficile en accédant à une formation qualifiante, dans le cadre de deux chartes pour la continuité professionnelle. L’État, la Région et les partenaires sociaux ont signé la 3e pour consolider et poursuivre le maintien en emploi des salariés par le développement de la formation.

Cette démarche est volontaire et gratuite. Les postulants doivent pour cela attester de la qualité de leurs pratiques au regard de quatre grands chapitres :
    l’organisation matérielle,
    les ressources humaines,
    l’environnement socio-économique,
    la mise en œuvre des actions de formation.

A travers cette Charte, les partenaires sociaux manifestent leur volonté de développer, en lien avec les OPCA et OPACIF et au service des entreprises et de leurs salariés :

• des actions de formation qui répondent aux besoins des entreprises (en particulier les très petites, petites et moyennes entreprises) et des publics les plus en difficulté ;
• la lisibilité, la transparence et l'optimisation du fonctionnement des OPCA et OPACIF ;
• la qualité de l'offre de formation et son évaluation.

Cette Charte reste évolutive et pourra être aménagée et complétée avec les bonnes pratiques identifiées au sein des différents réseaux.
