Un nombre considérable de dirigeants, intellectuels, universitaires, ont régulièrement cherché à percer le mystère de l’incroyable réussite économique et social de Singapour en l’espace de cinquante ans ce qu’aucun pays dans le monde n’a réussi à faire. Est-ce lié à une position géographique avantageuse ? Au leadership d’un despote éclairé ? A un investissement prioritaire sur l’éducation ? A une lutte permanente contre la corruption ? A un talent pour les négociations avec ses voisins de la zone Asie-Pacifique ? Chacun apporte son point de vue et si toutes ces options sont pleinement pertinentes, il y a une seule raison qui vaille selon Singapour, cette raison n’est pas secrète, elle est même martelée en permanence : c’est parce que le pays est géré avec un parti politique unique.
