The National Union of Students in UK support the International Women’s Day

The National Union of Students (NUS) Women’s Committee celebrated the work of women everywhere and recognised how much is left to do during the International Women’s Day 2018.
NUS Women’s Campaign supported both the International Women’s Strikes on 8 March and the UCU (University and College Union) strike – a significant labour dispute where lecturers are striking to save their pensions. Although the two may appear unconnected, it’s important to note that both involve workers in the education sector and both concern the demands for better wages and better living standards. More...

The Federation of the French-speaking students in Belgium denounce ‘Fake Universities’

In 2017, the Federation of the French-speaking students in Belgium (FEF) discovered a network of fake universities: institutions of higher education, which are not qualified to deliver a degree endorsed by the government and use techniques that are intentionally deceitful in order to make students register for their programs. UNESCO Regional Consultation Meeting for Eastern Europe and Central Asia

The UNESCO Regional Consultation Meeting for Eastern Europe and Central Asia is taking place on 23-24 April 2018 in Moscow and will be hosted by the NAA (National Accreditation Agency) and AKKORK (Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance and Career Development).
The meeting belongs to the two consultation rounds organised by UNESCO (see UNESCO Regional Consultation on Quality Assurance for Western Europe) and the proceedings and reports from these consultations will feed into the UNESCO Global Conference on Quality Assurance in Higher Education in Paris, France, which will take place in fall 2018

The European Quality Assurance Forum (EQAF) is calling for Contributions

EQAF is organised annually by ENQA, ESU, EUA and EURASHE* and regularly attracts over 400 participants from the higher education quality assurance (QA) community from Europe and beyond. This year’s forum will focus on the theme of ‘Broadening the scope of QA’ and will explore how institutions and QA agencies can build QA systems that encompass a broad range of activities, including learning and teaching, research, governance and administration, and service to society. NTEU signs open letter opposing foreign influence legislation

NTEU today signed an open letter, along with other unions and a very broad spectrum of over 200 environmental, religious, cultural, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and ethnic civil society organisations and charities, disputing the Coalition Government’s argument that the intention of the Bills is to stop foreign interference in the Australian electoral process and national security.
