Austria: NQF as a catalyst for qualification and quality

At the beginning of 2016 the Federal Act on the national qualifications framework entered into force in Austria. Following establishment of the bodies specified in the Act, qualification providers have been able to submit requests for NQF allocation since the beginning of 2017. Such requests can be submitted both for formal qualifications (with a legal basis) and so-called non-formal qualifications (those not regulated by law but for which a non-state education establishment is responsible). Belgium: Wallonia – higher VET to boost the tourism sector

To address this, the Interuniversity certificate in tourism and leisure management (equivalent to a certificate in advanced studies) was launched in 2013, drawing on a unique partnership in French-speaking Belgium between the worlds of higher education and vocational training (^{^[1]}). Belgium: certified vocational training - a key to employment in Brussels

In July 2017 a graduation ceremony was organised by Bruxelles Formation (public adult training provider in the Brussels Region) and 78 trainees were given their credentials, as official recognition of skills acquired through successfully completed training. Latvia: national VET quality assurance uses European indicators

EQAVET implementation started in 2013. In 2016, the government approved the use of EQAVET indicators to improve existing quality assurance arrangements in the national system:

teacher participation in the professional competence development;
learner participation in vocational education programmes;
vocational education graduates;
graduate employment: use of skills acquired at the workplace;
inclusion of risk groups in vocational education;
identification of demand for vocational education programmes in the labour market;
greater access to vocational education programmes.

VET provider annual self-assessment reports will include data on those indicators to be assessed by the State Education Quality Service. More...

Finland: Major VET reform approved
