Aggressions against the Hungarian minority protection organisations have become frequent in Ukraine. The offices of the KMKSZ in Uzhhorod were the target of aggressive acts for the second time this month. The FUEN firmly disproves of any form of intimidation and any and all acts which bypass proper democratic instruments. In our view the acts of vandalism of the offices of the KMKSZ were not only an aggression against the organisation itself, but an aggression against the Hungarian community in Ukraine. More...

The European Foundation of Human Rights campaigns in Lithuania for the MSPI

The European Foundation of Human Rights (EFHR) is fully supportive of the Minority SafePack and is coordinating efforts to gain support in Lithuania. For this reason, EFHR has spread information via their official website as well as in their official Facebook page. It has handed flyers at Vilnius University and at Vilnius International School. It has also presented the initiative in several conferences and trainings such as at the branch of the University of Bialystok in Vilnius and at the Polish House of Culture. More...

The minority framework convention should refocus on traditional minorities

The occasion was the 20th jubilee of the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities of the Council of Europe. The document contains essential regulations on education, participation, language rights and the access to media for national minorities in Europe. Minority SafePack in Catalunya: all European languages should be equal!

According to the European Union minority and language related issues are an exclusive competence of the Member States, and thus they are allowed to do whatever they see fit regarding these issues. FUEN’s Media Forum: We disseminate identity

The FUEN’s Media Forum entitled "Politics and Media for Minorities: Information, Network, Communication" focusing on current minority issues was organised for the first time in Berlin between the 1st and 2nd of February. German-speaking and international media representatives attended the forum promoting the networking of classical print media as well as the development of the online media of minorities or ethnic groups of Europe. Journalists from Germany, Romania, Latvia, Poland, Hungary, Moldova, Austria, Russia, Kazakhstan, Italy and Croatia contributed with their own experiences to the discussions. The topics of the event were the influence minority representatives have in politics, the role of minorities in the European regions and useful strategies for presenting minorities in an authentic and differentiated manner.
