A report by Clarivate Analytics, the former business group of Thomson Reuters, analyses the research output from 2006 to 2016 of 14 countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) stretching from Morocco to Pakistan.The most productive country was Turkey with a total of 277, 781 publications in the Web of Science database, followed by Iran, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The amount of research in other countries was very low and several countries such as Libya, Syria, Iraq and Bahrain were not included in the survey.
