Call for expression of interest in hosting the 3rd International Conference on Learning Cities in 2017

Following two successful International Conferences on Learning Cities in Beijing (2013) and Mexico City (2015), the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), which coordinates the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities, invites expression of interest in hosting the 3rd International Conference on Learning Cities in 2017. This third Conference will provide a platform for sharing knowledge and experience in building inclusive and sustainable learning cities and will assess the development of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities. Contextualizing education in multilingual and multicultural Africa

Together with the UNESCO offices in Abuja (Nigeria) and Dakar (Senegal), the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) will host a workshop to draft a sub-regional curriculum framework for the training of trainers in bilingual education. The workshop will bring together education specialists from West Africa and the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) to work on producing the first draft of the sub-regional framework. Many countries in the West African sub-region are working to include African languages and cultures into their education systems by using bilingual education in their curricula. 
This is a pioneer reform process that aims to improve the quality of education by contextualizing learning in multilingual and multicultural African societies. More...

The 2016 Sub-Regional Expert Meeting for the Follow-up of CONFINTEA VI in the Caribbean will take place on 22 and 23 March in Kingston, Jamaica. Réunion du groupe de travail sur les TIC de l'AIU

A l'invitation du professeur Remus Pricopie - un membre du Conseil d'administration de l'AIU - le groupe de travail sur les TIC de l'AIU s'est réuni à l'Université nationale d'études politiques et d'administration publique à Bucarest, Roumanie, du 19 au 20 janvier 2016. La réunion avait pour objectif de jeter les bases de la future stratégie de l'AIU en matière de TIC. La thématique des TIC est l'une des quatre thématiques prioritaires définie par le Conseil d'administration de l'AIU pour la période 2017-2020 aux côtés du leadership universitaire, de l'internationalisation dans l'enseignement supérieur, et de l'enseignement supérieur et de la recherche pour le développement.
Le groupe de travail était composé de membres du Conseil d'administration de l'AIU de Jordanie, Kenya, Malaisie, Mexique, Roumanie, et des USA, d'experts de l'Association des Universités africaines, G3ICT, OER Africa, Open Society Foundations, Université ouverte de Catalogne, et de l'UNESCO, et de deux représentantes du Secrétariat de l'AIU: Eva Egron-Polak, Secrétaire générale et Isabelle Turmaine, Directeur des Projets et Services d'Information. L'AIU au Salon de L'Etudiant

Dans le cadre du nouveau partenariat signé avec L’Etudiant – une revue spécialisée en enseignement supérieur -, l'AIU aura un stand au Salon Partir étudier à l'étranger de l'Etudiant qui aura lieu à Paris, France, du 30 au 31 janvier 2016.
L'équipe de l'AIU qui sera présente sur le Salon utilisera la base de données de l'AIU sur l'enseignement supérieur dans le monde WHED pour informer les étudiants sur les possibilités d'études à l'étranger dans le pays et la matière de leur choix. Elle répondra aussi aux questions sur l'Association.
