Bologna: a triumph of voluntary, pan-European co-operation

Those of you who are exhausted, elated, depressed or turned off by the recent political drama in the UK might want to find solace and respite in the conference on the European Higher Education Area and the Bologna Process to be held this week in Yerevan, Armenia.
For many academics and professional staff the Bologna Process is as much of a mystery as quantitative easing - it is something we know is important but we struggle with the details. Of course there are Bologna  aficionados-  l count myself as one- but for most of the sector it only comes to mind when module outlines have to be translated using the European Credit Transfer System or a student from Denmark chases up a Diploma Supplement.
