New EUA President takes office

LogoProfessor Rolf Tarrach, former Rector of the University of Luxembourg and President of the Spanish scientific research council, officially took over as EUA President on 1 July for the next four years.
Professor Tarrach was elected by EUA members in April 2015 during the last General Assembly held at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. He replaces Professor Maria Helena Nazaré (University of Aveiro), who served as EUA President from 2012 to 2015.
Last week the new EUA Board and President held their first meeting where they confirmed Professor Martine Rahier, President of Swiss Universities and Rector of the University of Neuchâtel as Vice-President. She will support the EUA President along with Professor David Drewry, who will continue to serve as Vice-President. Five new Board members out of eight were also elected during the General Assembly at the University of Antwerp in April. They will serve for a period of four years (2015-2019). More...
