Who judges our universities?
QAA has published a breakdown (PDF, 111.2KB) of the 400 plus academics, students and independent experts who decide whether UK's higher education providers are meeting nationally agreed expectations for standards and quality.
QAA sources its academic and student reviewers from across the UK. They represent not only the entire spectrum of UK universities, but also further education colleges and alternative providers of higher education.
The number of peer reviews carried out each year has grown significantly. In 2014, QAA published 184 reviews, compared with just 45 in 2005, reflecting the numbers and diversity of higher education providers now being quality checked against the same benchmarks. More...
