Stopping short of a longer list, the national distribution of power, population, GDP, house prices, levels of health, have all come under scrutiny. But what about higher education? What does the geography of ‘HE provision’ reveal?Earlier this year, the Government announced it would remove the cap on student numbers from 2015-16. As part of this announcement, HEFCE was asked to look at the distribution of HE provision and, in particular, so-called ‘cold spots’ or areas with little or no provision.
