The European Parliament to debate on the future of the Bologna process

ESU - European Students' UnionToday, Thursday 26 February, the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) of the European Parliament debates a draft report on Follow-Up on the Implementation of the Bologna Process, prepared by Krystyna Lybacka, Member of the European Parliament. The report aims at shining light on the most important aspects of the Bologna Process and what members of the parliament believe are the most pressing steps forward towards the Ministerial Conference in Yerevan in 2015 and beyond.

It is great to see the interest from the Members of the European Parliament on the future of higher education in Europe and how this affects the lives of million of students,“ Elisabeth Gehrke says, ESU chairperson.

With its focus on student-centred learning, the social dimension, recognition and access to mobility the report supports much of what has been ESU’s priorities for the Bologna Process. It also supports strengthening the ties between education and research, specifically mentioning synchronising the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Programme and the Erasmus+ Programme.

We would like to see a joint support from all political groups in the European Parliament, as it is essential for the democratically elected representatives of the European citizens to maintain clear priorities for the future of European cooperation in higher education,” Gehrke adds.
