 China's investment in higher education in the U.S. came under scrutiny Thursday by a congressional panel probing "Confucius institutes" at 97 colleges and universities.
Pace University and six State University of New York campuses are among schools with Confucius institutes that provide Chinese cultural and language instruction.
Binghamton University says it has received $589,950 since 2009 from the Chinese government — including $110,353 this year — for its Confucius Institute of Chinese Opera, which operates on campus near the university's Department of Asian and Asian American Studies. More...
