UIL launches Global RVA Observatory

The UIL Global Observatory of the Recognition, Validation and Accreditation (RVA) of Non-formal and Informal Learning, in short, Global RVA Observatory, is a new online resource providing access to information on RVA in UNESCO Member States. It brings together recent RVA developments by inviting policy-makers, national experts, practitioners and all those with a professional interest in RVA to share and exchange their countries’ specific models of RVA. Eleven country profiles and 27 case studies were launched in autumn 2014.
With the ultimate aim of developing a useful ePlatform, further profiles and case studies will be added and existing ones updated on an on-going basis as we receive responses from Member States about their RVA systems.

NTEU Calls on Government to make Gender Equity an Urgent Priority

By Terri Macdonald (NTEU National Office). Compromise misses the point

By Courtney Sloane (NTEU National Office). Any changes to higher education which allow universities to charge students whatever they like for a university degree must not be allowed to proceed, the NTEU said today.
The NTEU continues to call upon Senators to completely reject Minster Pyne’s Bill. Speculation in Fairfax media today suggesting some amelioration of the immediate destructive impacts of the proposed Bill only confirm that the Government should withdraw the Bill and start again.
Fee deregulation will not only lead to considerably higher university fees with some students paying $100,000 or more, it will also undermine the very nature of Australian public higher education where every student has a fair go at gaining entry into university based on their academic ability and not on their capacity to pay.
