Debate over university funding projects in China

China's Ministry of Education has quelled rumors that the 211 and 985 project, aimed at improving the quality of higher education in China, would be abolished in a statement released Thursday.
Universities participating in project 211 and project 985 are entitled to various degrees of state research funds, usually receiving far more funding than that distributed to ordinary colleges. Read more...
