Pathways program boosts graduation rates for low-income students
By . Pathways to Education was launched in 2001 in the country’s oldest public housing project, Toronto’s Regent Park.
Developed by the Regent Park Community Health Centre, it offers high school students who live in public housing academic, social and financial support.
Through a charitable foundation, Pathways Canada, the program has expanded to 13 communities across the country during the past decade. The Ottawa program launched in September 2007.
Pathways carefully measures its impact. In Ottawa, Pathways serves 430 high school students who live in 11 public housing communities in the Pinecrest-Queensway area. More...
